[...] In looking forward to BarCampTdot, I’ve been trying to decide which of my favourite rants I’m going to dust off for the soapbox. Web 2.0 and VC? Disintermediation? Creativity and Community? Those who know me know that it is a rare topic on which I have neither opinion nor curiosity. [...]

A question I keep asking myself and others is -- what exactly is "Web 2.0?"

The term lacks any congruous definition. I ask everyone who coins the term, "what does it mean?" and each of them gives me a different answer. Without any single definition the term lacks any meaning to me... and it's frustrating when people tell me about their web 2.0 startup and it tells me nothing about what they do.

It's no surprise to me then that there is a problem IMO.

Great article!

Alan,

I haven't used Fundable yet, but it looks pretty painless. Set up an action, send a link, collect the money.

Good luck!

I'm looking to fund a non-profit that provides technical support to community organizations in New Orleans. Getting community organizations to share information in syndicated forums, where it can by archived an indexed.

To intice my neighbors to use new forums, I'm recording community meetings in digital audio and posting them online.

If I were to go with something like fundable to get the funds necessary to replicate myself, that is to send out another recorder, and to augment the online presence with printed media, like flyers, that might create enough of a presence to bid for grant money.

How does one work fundable into a fund rasing campaign?

It would be nice if it succeeded, because I could then teach this form of fundraising to New Orleans community organizations.

[...] I’ve been exploring these themes a lot lately (here & here), but I sure don’t have it figured it out yet. It has something to do with the tension between network economics and the desire of capital to internalize the market. Web 2.0 and Capital may be a paradox, or they may present a new kind of arbitrage opportunity. More on this later… [...]

I enjoyed many of the links.

I think if you wanted another bountiful example you could riff on Google's buy and forget strategy. Other's have commented on this but without the focus on the negative innovation and economic space this creates.

And while we're referencing torcamp and others can someone please develop "bizcamp". I'd rather see business models demoed than ajax but maybe that's just me.
