Probably the same time. Not surprisingly, given they're the only GSM game left in Canada, it looks like Rogers will be offering the iPhone.

I too am a big fan of, and will be lusting for, the iPhone. That being said, take a look at the feature set for RIM's 8800. No stylin' interface but a pretty delicious little feature list, including GPS. And its going to go for about $250, rumour has it - about a third of the expected $ of the iPhone. And coming out late April. Tempting.

If it only works in the US, I'd consider moving until it's available here! ;-)

Good questions Ryan.

Patrick - exactly what I was thinking. WT should approach Apple for a pre-release version for early location-based wifi experiments. :)

And imagine how such a device in a ubiquitous wifi-saturated community changes things so completely.

I share this particular case of gadget lust with you Mark, along with about 3billion other people I suspect.

I actually have a Treo (which is ok, but definitely not great). But if the iPhone is half as good as it looks I'll be in line for the bandwagon as soon as it hits Canadian stores.

As a wifi geek, I'm particularly interested in the possibilities the iPhone opens up for location specific, wifi based apps. This is far more interesting in my eyes than 3g stuff, as the wifi spectrum is unlicensed there are none of the barriers to entry that come with billion dollar spectrum license deals and trans-national telecoms giants.

But will you be cursing it when it's -30 and you've got to take your gloves off to use it? :)

I'll be keen to see how it survives a drop too...
